the Geode
finding the hidden complexity
i’m a big fan trojan horse art. things that sneak in the complexity over time. John Prine comes to mind. funny, accessible, universal; then suddenly overwhelming, masterful, pure artistry. it doesn’t have to be a sneak i suppose. its more about how i feel it sneaking up on me. i’m also aware that the art maker probably can’t plan out how i digest their work but this idea of building an accessible structure that elucidates meaning over time is something i’m always striving toward.
so what can you do with the amusement park ride you’ve been tasked to build? how will you thrill and entertain and still make the parents feel like kids again?
in case you missed it, i just put out 2 records i’m real proud of. get ‘em HERE
